Weihrauch makes some of the finest spring airguns in the world. They have been doing so since shortly after World War II. The HW50 Mk2 fills the gap that was left when the quality of BSA went down the drain. The trigger is good, the rifle is light, the finish is perfect and the accuracy is awesome.
People always want to know how it compares to a Gamo. Well let me put it this way…
With the HW50 mk2 you just pay for the quality of the rifle, NOT like with the cool looking Gamo's where half the cost goes into useless plastic bits that they put on the rifle to disguise the fact that it is not nearly as good as you thought. The HW50 might not have the same power as a Gamo Shadow or CFX, but you will hit the target more often. Not only that, but by the time you have repaired the Gamo twice, the HW50 is just reaching it peak, and it will stay at that level for years.

Before you contact me and tell me I’m full of crap and how happy you are with your Gamo. Answer this question first… “have you ever used a top brand rifle before?”. If not, give it a try… you’ll see the difference.

Start by removing the action from the stock: undo the knurled nut in the forearm and put the safety to the safe position. Using a non-marring punch (such as a wooden dowel), push the safety out from the trigger unit frame. The QB79 have 2 screws in the front of the stock that need to be removed as well.
Looking at the trigger unit, you will notice there are 3 screws used for adjustments:
1. the large screw at the bottom - is for pull weight. Unscrew it 2 turns and test the feel of the trigger (it should be about 1
lb.. however, you can adjust it to your liking).
2. the middle screw - is for overtravel. Screw all the way in to eliminate all the creep.
3. the top screw is for sear engagement and compensation of future wear. DO NOT ADJUST AT THIS TIME. I dont know how long wear will take.
Put everything back together. You'll see an immediate improvement.
No matter what you are looking for, there is a Norica for everyone.
If you prefer under-lever rifles, go for the Quick (1000ft/s).
If you prefer break barrel rifles, you simply must have the Storm (1000ft/s).
Maybe you want something with a different look. Well, the Dragon Special with its silver finish and synthetic magic-wood stock may be just the rifle for you (1000ft/s).

When people hear the name Norica, most of then just assume that pronounced it wrong and that you are talking about a Norinco. So now that you know, don’t be the idiot that gets confused and miss an opportunity to own a great rifle.

Unfortunately SAARA rules force you to use diopter sights. Unless you have a BIG budget to afford the up market rifles, you are in for a lot of misery. First of all you need to find a front and rear diopter for your newly acquired rifle. Then you have to get someone who can do the modifications to your rifle to fit these sights. If you bought a rifle for about R1500, you’ll probably find that the sights cost more than the rifle. In the end you have an over R3000 shooting rig that have a crappy trigger and average performance. Well, that is what usually happens…
